We need to take care of ourselves and each other. Too many of our brothers and sisters are ending their lives, destroying their marriages, families and careers by not speaking up and asking for help. Look, I get it. Specially for us that have been around a while when things were different.
Saw something crazy at work. You had some drinks to dealt with it.
The 1st and 2nd line supervisors making your life miserable? You had some drinks to dealt with it.
Bills piling up? You had some drinks to dealt with it.
Upside down on the mortgage and your spouse lost their job? You had some drinks to dealt with it.
Officer down……….You had some drinks to dealt with it.
I’m not against having drinks for morale building or celebrating important moments or milestones in our life but we need to be vigilant and cautious so that it doest become a crutch that we use to get through the day. I want all of us to be healthy in mind, body and spirit. I know our Agencies push EAP and that is one resource but there are many others out there like Under The Shield that are free and confidential. I’m not sponsored by them in any way but they are a good resource to keep in the back pocket.
Stay safe, stay strapped, stay warm and stay dry.
